Ymoon Resorts is a nature resort in Vellamunda, in the northern part of Wayanad district, Kerala — spacious suites, scenic views, a swimming pool and the kind of hospitality that remembers your name.
Wayanad has a great many places to stay, and they are not all the same. Most of the luxury resorts in Wayanad cluster around Kalpetta and Vythiri, near the main road and the tour traffic. Ymoon Resorts sits on the quieter side of the district, in Vellamunda, away from the busier stretch around Kalpetta and Vythiri. What you get for that is silence, hills in every direction, and a property small enough that the staff know which room you are in.
What the resort is
Three ways to stay: a honeymoon villa with its own indoor plunge pool, and two suites — one facing the mountains, one facing the valley. All of them have a king size bed, a private balcony, air conditioning and an attached bathroom with hot water around the clock. Around them sit a swimming pool, a restaurant, an outdoor BBQ area, a kids' park and a campfire that gets lit most evenings.
Who comes here
Couples, mostly, and families. As a honeymoon resort Wayanad has plenty of competition, and ours is at the quiet end of it: the honeymoon villa is built for two, has its own plunge pool, and makes no apology for either. The two suites are sized for families, with a living space alongside the bedroom, and there is a dedicated kids' park, indoor games for wet afternoons, and security staff on the property twenty-four hours a day. Parents tend to relax here in a way they do not always manage on holiday.
Where it puts you
Northern Wayanad is the part of the district closest to Banasura Sagar Dam, Kuruva Island, Thirunelly Temple and the Tholpetty range of the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. Edakkal Caves, Chembra Peak, Soochipara Falls and Pookode Lake are all straightforward days out from here. We can help with directions, timings and arranging a driver — most guests do a mix of one big excursion and one slow day at the resort.
What we do not do
We do not serve alcohol, including at the BBQ. We are not a large hotel and there is no nightlife. If you are looking for a resort in Wayanad to be busy in, this is the wrong one; if you are looking for one to be quiet in, it is very much the right one.
