Rooms with room in them

Both suites — Mountain View and Valley View — have a defined living space alongside the bedroom, which is what makes them work for a family rather than only for two. A king size bed, a private balcony, air conditioning, and an attached bathroom with hot water at any hour, which matters more than it sounds when a child needs a bath at ten at night.

Somewhere for children to actually go

There is a dedicated kids'' park on the property, and a swimming pool set in the garden — children must be supervised by an adult, and we ask everyone to shower before getting in. For the afternoons when Wayanad decides to rain, there are indoor games. Security staff are on the property twenty-four hours a day.

Evenings that work for everybody

The campfire gets lit most evenings and is the part children remember. The outdoor BBQ turns dinner into an event rather than a sitting. The restaurant does home-style Kerala cooking alongside the familiar Indian dishes that a fussy eight-year-old will actually accept, and complimentary breakfast is included with select stay plans.

Note that we do not serve alcohol anywhere on the property, including at the BBQ.

Days out that suit children

Not everything in Wayanad works with a small child. Of the places near us, Pookode Lake is the easiest — a flat paved path, pedal boats and an aquarium. Banasura Sagar Dam works well if they can manage a short uphill walk, and Karlad Lake has zip-lining and kayaking for teenagers who have run out of patience for scenery. Chembra Peak and Pakshipathalam are proper treks and better left for another trip.

Getting here

Vellamunda is a village in the north of Wayanad district, away from the busier stretch around Kalpetta and Vythiri where most of the traffic goes. It is a longer drive in and a quieter place to arrive. There is free parking on site, and we can help arrange a driver for days out.
