Campfire Evening
One of the most relaxing ways to spend a holiday evening — warmth, music and company under an open sky.
Ymoon Resorts is a small, quiet honeymoon resort in Vellamunda, northern Wayanad — with a villa built for two, its own indoor plunge pool, and no reason to see anybody else all day.
The Honeymoon Villa is set apart from the rest of the property, which is the whole point of it. Inside is a king size bed, warm wooden interiors and plush bedding; through from the bedroom is an indoor plunge pool that belongs to the villa alone — nothing to book, nobody to share it with, and no walk across the resort in a towel.
Large windows fill the room with daylight, and the private balcony looks straight out over the greenery of the Western Ghats. Air conditioning, free high-speed Wi-Fi, a mini fridge, an electric kettle and an attached bathroom with hot water at any hour.
Most honeymoon resorts in Wayanad sit around Kalpetta and Vythiri, where the traffic and the tour buses are. Vellamunda is in the north of the district, away from that. What you get for the extra half hour on the road is quiet — mornings with nothing in them but birds, and evenings where the loudest thing is the campfire.
It is also a small property. The staff learn your name on the first day, which matters more on a honeymoon than it does on any other kind of holiday.
Not very much, mostly, and that is the recommendation. A campfire is lit most evenings. The outdoor BBQ turns dinner into something that takes three hours. There are guided walks through the surrounding tea estates, a swimming pool set in the garden, and enough of Wayanad within reach for one proper day out — Banasura Sagar Dam and Kuruva Island are the two we would pick for a couple.
Please note the resort does not serve alcohol, including at the BBQ.
December to February is the classic honeymoon season here: cool, dry, clear mornings. The monsoon between June and September is the other good answer if you want the hills at their greenest and the resort almost to yourselves — it rains, but that is rather the appeal. March to May is mild compared with the plains and the quietest time of all.
The villa is the only one of its kind on the property, so it goes early for December, January and the wedding season. Message us on WhatsApp or send an enquiry with your dates and we will confirm availability and what your stay plan includes.
