A cave and birdwatching trail deep in the Brahmagiri range, reached on a forest trek. Best for early risers and serious birders.
Edakkal Caves
Prehistoric rock carvings believed to be over 6,000 years old, depicting human figures, animals and symbols. A short trek up leads to wide views over the hills.
Chembra Peak
The highest peak in Wayanad, best known for the heart-shaped lake on the way up which is said never to dry. The summit opens onto the Western Ghats in every direction.
Soochipara Waterfalls
Also called Sentinel Rock Falls — a three-tier waterfall enclosed by dense forest, at its most dramatic during and just after the monsoon.
Pookode Lake
A calm freshwater lake ringed by forest and hills, with pedal boating and easy walking trails. An uncomplicated afternoon for families.
Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
Part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, home to elephants, deer, bison and a great many birds. The Tholpetty range is the northern entry point; jeep safaris run at dawn and late afternoon.

A freshwater lake set up for activities — zip-lining, kayaking and zorbing — for guests who want a more active day out.
